1. What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is form of treatment that involves talking to a trained mental health professional, such as a Clinical Psychologist/Psychotherapist, to address psychological issues and promote mental health and wellbeing. It typically involves a series of psychological sessions in which the psychologist helps the patient to explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and behavior, with the goal of identifying and changing patterns that are causing distress or difficulty in their life.

2. Who is a Psychologist and Psychiatrist?

Psychologist and Psychiatrist both are mental health professionals, but they have different roles and trainings

  • Psychologists typically have degree in Psychology and specialize in talk therapy (Psychotherapy), psychological testing, and other forms of mental health assessments, to diagnose and treat mental health conditions. They focus on helping individual develop insight into their thoughts, emotions and behavior and use evidence-based techniques to help individual cope with stressors and overcome their mental health issues.
  • On other hand, Psychiatrists are MBBS doctors with specialization in psychiatry, and are trained to diagnose and treat mental illnesses by prescribing medication and other forms of medical treatment, such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

7. How much does each psychological session cost?

Therapy at The Psych Guide is affordable starting at rupees 1000 per session. Psychological therapy requires multiple session guided by a clinical psychologist, Therefore, you can select a "Price Plan" according to your budget, where you get more discount per session.

8. Can I pay after attending the session?

Each session require payment in advance. Once the payment is received, only then your session will commence.

9. How many psychological sessions do I need?

The number of psychotherapy sessions to treat a mental disorder varies widely depending on the individual and their specific needs. There is no set number of sessions that is appropriate for everyone as the duration and number of sessions can depend on factors such as the severity and complexity of the disorder, the individual's level of motivation, the type of therapy being used as well as individual's response to treatment.

10. What to expert in first psychotherapy session?

In the first session, you can expect to discuss you reasons for seeking therapy, your current symptoms or concerns and your personal and medical history. The therapist/psychologist will likely ask questions to get to know you better and to gain an understanding of your unique situation. This session is focused on building report and developing a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs.

11. What if I am late for the session?

If you are running late for your therapy session, it’s important to communicate with your psychotherapist as soon as possible. Your psychotherapist may have other clients scheduled before or after your session, so being late can disrupt the schedule and cause inconvenience for others. Therefore, you will be given a ten-minute grace time. The session will be cancelled if there is any additional delay (without informing a therapist) and you'll be charged half of the session fee. Please contact us right away if you are facing any issue or need assistance in order to prevent cancellation without a refund.

12. What if I want to reschedule a session?

In order to cancel and reschedule a therapy session, you must contact and inform your therapist 24hrs prior to your booked appointment. Failure to do so, will cost you half of the session fee.
